Overview

If Academy Award-winner Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman has left you in awe of his suave dance moves, or you have always wanted to dance with your partner like the ravishing Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez in Shall We Dance, then here’s your chance to learn a few steps of the Tango. Get ready to put your best foot forward with this Tango dance session live-streamed all the way from its home country – the fascinating land of Argentina.

Our native host for the day will first take you through the history of Tango, to understand the origin of this dance and how it developed over the years. The dance that was once believed to be performed only by the lower strata of society has now become a ballroom favourite across the world. The Tango involves simply walking across the dance floor with your partner and pausing dramatically to the music, while express passion and emotion through a set of elegant dance moves. Milonga, the form that we’ll be practising today, is more of a social form that is often enjoyed in a group, with slightly faster movements and lesser number of pauses.

In Tango dancing, the music has a significant role to play. Pay attention to the harmonies of the accordion, clarinet or the guitar and learn how they affect the mood and tempo of the dance.

This virtual session with a trained dancer is your chance to learn a few basic steps of the Tango. If you have a partner to accompany you, you may be taught the perfect way to embrace your partner while dancing. For those of you dancing alone, well, it's great practice for a time when you might be called upon to dance with someone.

For all those who have never let their feet loose, and for those seasoned dancers, this live-streamed demonstration class of the Tango is sure to be an enjoyable one. Along with appreciating this Argentinian dance form, teams of employees are bound to have fun during the session, and will soon be waiting for the next office party to show off their moves.
