Overview

On this first-of-a-kind live-streamed, interactive session, learners will tour and explore London with our local presenter while also learning about life in the United Kingdom.

In the backdrop of the many incredible highlights of this amazing city, you will learn practical information about various aspects of daily life in the U.K. This informative session provides impactful learning for those immigrating to study or work in the U.K and for those visiting for the first time. This session is also critical for multinational businesses that wish to provide their employees with a practical knowledge of life and culture in the United Kingdom so they can collaborate with teams across borders and overseas partners effectively.

Attendees will learn about broad and detailed themes ranging from politics and structure to the local currency, living expenses, medical care, transportation options, housing & lodging, education, and other key aspects that will help them have a true sense of local living.

What makes our interactive sessions unique is that it replicates the immersive nature of travel, thus cementing the learning you obtain. For example, as you tour around the houses of Parliament in Westminster, our presenter will explain about the political structure and monarchy in the U.K. Amongst other things, you will learn that the United Kingdom is a union of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and while each country has its own Parliament and independent government, they all share the same head of state.

As you walk past the Big Ben and cross the bridge over the river thames to go to the London Eye, we will come across the world famous red double decker buses and the busy underground tube stations. Your presenter will explain how public transport in the form of buses, trains and trams serve all major cities. You will learn how the U.K.'s railways are state-owned but operated by private companies under contract to the government. Train fares vary according to demand; off-peak fares are generally lower than peak fares for journeys within one region or between regions. You will not only learn about the fascinating history of the world's oldest underground railway system but also about the different lines that operate and how to use them.

As we walk past the famous St. Thomas hospital across Westminster, our presenter will invite you to consider how health care is different in the United Kingdom where the National Health Service (NHS) operates public hospitals, medical facilities and other services throughout the country paid for by taxes rather than through healthcare plans/insurance.

Walking into a local shop along the beautiful South Bank, you will not only become familiar with shops here but also learn about the local currency and its denominations (Pounds and pence). You will get a glimpse of the cost of everyday items you would need.

For those who are planning to live here for an extended period, your presenter will explain about essential aspects of daily life such as banking, council tax, driving and other facilities that make living efficient.

As we come into view of the London eye, and the iconic Tower bridge across the river, our presenter will explain more about the number of visitors the U.K attracts every year and why it is such an appealing country to live in.

This is an interactive session so attendees can ask questions and clarify any doubts they would like further information on during the discussion.

Whether you are a corporate team, aspiring international student, immigrating for work or want to really learn about life in the U.K, this session will give you a glimpse of what to expect and how to manage life here effectively with confidence.

PS: This specific session uses London as a background to give learners an insight about U.K. Please contact us for sessions that use other cities in the other countries in the U.K. (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland)
